YtseJam Kr have been the Official Italian Dream Theater Tribute Band since November 25th, 2006 to December 31st, 2007. They have been chosen by Dream Theater, amongst other italian DT tribute bands, through the "Tribute Band Contest", arranged by the Official Italian Dream Theater fan club (Italian Dreamers)
This Contest, with blessing from Mike, started back in 2004 and went through preliminary stages and semi-finals. Dream Theater have always decided which bands deserved to gain the next stage.
The Final night of the Contest has taken place on November 26, 2006 in Rimini, between YtseJam Kr and the other finalist band. Each band played a 2 hours set, including 4 obligatory songs (one of these was a DT Medley) chosen by Mike & Co. (all the Contest rules were very detailed).
Their performances were judged by an expert and selected panel of judges, led by Jordan Rudess that attended this special event, and proclaimed YtseJam Kr the Contest winner!
YtseJam Kr are: Davide Calabretta on drums, Frank Corigliano on vocals, Giorgio Barozzi on keyboards, Fabio Mangano on guitars, Paela Zaccaria on bass.
As the Italian Fan Club closed down on December 31st 2007, fan club staff and Dream Theater have decided that the Official Italian Tribute Band's title returns vacant.
"The Music of Dream Theater is a challenge for every musician: we humbly try not only to pay our joyful and respectful tribute to the band we've always appreciated, but also to improve ourselves as musicians, confronting with such masterpieces of technique, composition and sound. That's our concept of Tribute Band". |
